A recent UNHCR report shows 474,807 registered refugees and asylum seekers in Jordan.

Syrians make up the majority with 436,410 (91.9%), followed by Iraqis at 24,529, Yemenis 8,820, Sudanese 4,284, Somalis 324, and 440 from other nationalities.

Most refugees (385,960; 81.3%) live in urban areas, while 88,847 (18.7%) reside in camps.

Age and gender distribution:

Females: under 4 years 27,467; 5–11 years 46,800; 12–17 years 36,460; 18–35 years 67,052; 36–59 years 48,105; 60+ 12,357.

Males: under 4 years 28,551; 5–11 years 49,179; 12–17 years 38,546; 18–35 years 67,179; 36–59 years 43,846; 60+ 9,265.


Children total 227,003 (47.81%), adults 226,182 (47.64%), with 115,157 females (24.25%) and 111,025 males (23.38%). Seniors (60+) number 21,622 (4.6%).
