Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan on Tuesday represented His Majesty King Abdullah II at the 2nd World Summit for Social Development, held in Doha.

The summit, inaugurated by Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, saw wide international participation, bringing together over 8,000 representatives of UN member states, including heads of state, government officials, international organisations, and civil society groups.

Jordan’s participation reflects its ongoing efforts to advance social development goals outlined in the National Social Protection Strategy, as well as its global engagement in this field — most recently co-hosting the 3rd Global Disability Summit with Germany in April, which concluded with the Amman–Berlin Declaration on global disability inclusion.

The summit adopted the “Doha Declaration,” reaffirming global commitment to social development and the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, grounded in human dignity, human rights, equality, and peace.

Held 30 years after the first summit in Copenhagen, the event aims to enhance cooperation among governments and international institutions to build more inclusive and sustainable societies.

Jordan’s delegation included Social Development Minister Wafaa Bani Mustafa and Ambassador to Qatar Zaid Al-Louzi.
