Amman – Cabinet, in session chaired by PM Jafar Hassan Wednesday, approves memorandum of understanding between Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Palestine’s Energy and Natural Resources Authority on electricity. MoU follows Jordan-Palestine talks on cross-border electricity projects.

MoU aims to boost partnership, coordination, and cooperation on regional electricity linking through sharing expertise, technical information, and facilitating implementation of projects between both countries.

Electricity linkage projects expected to diversify and strengthen energy supply, enhance network efficiency and reliability. Projects also aim to optimise available resources and build new linking facilities to provide higher capacities for national electricity systems, based on technical studies, including ongoing consultancy by CESI.

Parties to coordinate with funding and supporting entities, including European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and other relevant bodies to secure technical and financial support. Cooperation to cover technical, economic, and administrative aspects to increase local energy production, reduce costs, and exchange system information to optimise linking scenarios.
