MP Hussein Al-Omoush, head of Parliamentary National Guidance Media Committee, announces intention to submit parliamentary memo Sunday morning calling for dismissal of minister of industry trade, following heater incidents that cause deaths of 10 people in 2 days due to suffocation.
Speaking on Al Mamlaka TV, Al-Omoush says memo will also demand resignation of director of Standards Metrology Institution.
He says move aims to entrench principle of moral accountability, under which relevant authority institution ministry bears responsibility when error occurs, through resignation of top official.
Al-Omoush urges industry trade minister standards director to submit resignations tonight voluntarily, warning that if government does not act, he will file memo Sunday morning.
Earlier, Public Security Directorate spokesperson urges all citizens owning so-called “Shamsa” heaters of all types to stop using them immediately and not light them indoors under any circumstances, after confirmation that suffocation cases involve same heater type.
