40% of tax refunds transferred to 103,000 taxpayers

Income and Sales Tax Department begins sending text messages to taxpayers eligible for 2024 tax refunds, notifying them that 40% of due refunds transferred to their bank IBANs.
Messages sent to about 103,000 taxpayers out of 116,000 eligible cases.
Department says notifications cover around 96,000 employees and users, plus 7,000 individual taxpayers who meet final assessment and payment conditions, including settlement of withheld tax and valid bank account details.
Director General of Income and Sales Tax Department Hossam Abu Ali says remaining 60% of refunds to receive priority during first months of 2026, stressing department working with Ministry of Finance to speed up completion of payments to eligible taxpayers.
