Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company confirms water not used at any stage of liquefied gas supply chain, from production, import and storage to filling at its three gas filling stations in Zarqa, Amman and Irbid.
Company responds to circulating social media video showing water inside one gas cylinder, saying it fills an average of 96,000 cylinders daily year-round on a single production line, rising to about 250,000 cylinders per day during peak demand and cold weather.
Company says gas filled in all cylinders free of water, noting that if water source were refinery-related it would appear in thousands of cylinders filled on same production line on same day.
Refinery stresses it has no interest or motive to include any substance in cylinders other than liquefied gas, adding responsibility for cylinders ends once filled cylinders leave premises of its three filling stations in Zarqa, Amman and Irbid.
Company says gas cylinders undergo strict inspection and testing by qualified technical staff before and after filling. No filled cylinder leaves stations unless it passes checks covering cylinder body, valve and amount of gas filled, with any defective cylinder excluded immediately upon detection.
Company urges citizens to check shrink seal fixed on cylinder valve and ensure it intact at purchase, and to inspect hose, regulator and gas leak preventer when installing cylinder.
Refinery says any observations regarding gas cylinders can be reported via unified complaints number 06 2221262.
