Temperatures record slight rise on Wednesday, with cold weather in most regions and mild conditions in Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and Aqaba. Clouds appear at different altitudes in north and central areas, with active south-westerly winds.
According to Meteorological Department, temperatures in east Amman range between 14–8°C, west Amman 12–6, northern highlands 10–4, Sharah highlands 9–2, Badia areas 16–6, plains 15–7, northern Jordan Valley 21–10, southern Jordan Valley 24–12, Dead Sea 23–11 and Aqaba Gulf 24–12.
Kingdom affected on Thursday by cold, moist air mass linked to weather depression centred north of Cyprus. Temperatures drop, with cold, partly cloudy conditions turning cloudy. Rain begins early morning in north, extending to central regions and parts of eastern areas by afternoon.
Rainfall expected heavy at times, especially in north and central regions, including northern and central Jordan Valley and Dead Sea area, possibly accompanied by thunder.
During night hours, rain extends to limited parts of south-western regions. Westerly winds active with strong gusts reaching 50–60 km/h, raising dust in Badia areas, then turning north-westerly and moderate to active overnight.
Meteorological Department warns of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas in north and central regions, including Jordan Valley and Dead Sea, reduced visibility due to dust in Badia areas, fog and low clouds over highlands, and slippery roads during rainfall. Public urged to avoid crossing flooded areas.
On Friday, weather remains cold and partly cloudy to cloudy at times, with light rain showers occasionally in western regions. Winds north-westerly and moderate, active at times.
On Saturday, cold conditions prevail in most areas, with mild weather in Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and Aqaba, low clouds appearing and moderate easterly winds.
