Government decides on Wednesday, through Petroleum Derivatives Pricing Committee, to cut prices of petroleum products and kerosene selling price starting 1 January.
Decision follows monthly committee meeting to set local fuel prices for period 1–31 January. Government directs kerosene price cut to 590 fils per litre instead of 620.
Committee reviews global crude oil and petroleum product prices during December and compares them with November levels. Global averages decline in prices of gasoline (90 and 95) and diesel.
After applying pricing formula based on global prices to all petroleum products, committee finds gasoline 90 price down by 20 fils per litre, gasoline 95 down by 25 fils per litre, and diesel down by 60 fils per litre.
Accordingly, committee decides to cut gasoline octane 90 selling price to 830 fils per litre instead of 850, gasoline octane 95 to 1055 fils per litre instead of 1080, and diesel to 645 fils per litre instead of 705.
Committee also decides to keep household gas cylinder price (12.5 kg) unchanged at 7 dinars per cylinder.
