رJordan comes under influence of cold, moist air mass linked to weather depression centred north of Cyprus on Thursday, bringing in temperatures and partly to mostly cloudy conditions, according to Meteorological Department.
Rain begins early morning in northern regions, extending during afternoon to central areas and parts of eastern regions. Rainfall expected heavy at times, particularly in north and centre including northern and central Jordan Valley and Dead Sea area, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail in some locations.
During night, rainfall gradually reaches limited parts of south-west. Westerly winds active with strong gusts reaching 50–60 km/h, raising dust in desert areas, turning north-westerly and moderate to active overnight.
Meteorological Department warns of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas in north and centre including Jordan Valley and Dead Sea, strong winds and gusts, reduced horizontal visibility due to dust in desert areas, fog and low clouds over highlands, and slippery roads during rainfall. Public urged not to cross flooded areas.
On Friday, temperatures slightly, with cold and partly to mostly cloudy weather and chance of intermittent rain in western regions. Winds north-westerly, moderate and occasionally active.
Saturday sees cold conditions across most regions, milder weather in Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and Aqaba, with low clouds and easterly moderate winds.
On Sunday, temperatures rise slightly, remaining cold in most areas and mild in Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and Aqaba, with high clouds and south-easterly moderate winds that may become active at times.
Temperatures in East Amman today range between 12–6°C, West Amman 10–4°C, northern highlands 8–4°C, Sharah highlands 9–3°C, desert areas 14–4°C, plains 13–5°C, northern Jordan Valley 20–9°C, southern Jordan Valley 22–10°C, Dead Sea 21–10°C, Aqaba Gulf 22–9°C.
