The impact of a low-pressure system accompanied by a very cold air mass is intensifying on Tuesday, causing a noticeable in temperatures. Weather will be very cold, cloudy, and rainy across northern and central regions of the Kingdom, with limited rainfall in parts of the eastern areas and the southwestern regions.
Rainfall is expected to be heavy at times, especially in northern and central areas, accompanied by thunderstorms and occasional heavy hail.
From early morning hours, snow showers are expected over high mountain peaks, sometimes mixed with rain, with limited accumulation—particularly over the southern highlands (Al-Sharah). Active westerly winds are forecast, with strong gusts reaching 80–90 km/h, which may lead to dust storms in desert and Badia areas. During nighttime, rainfall intensity will weaken while intermittent rain continues, and winds will shift to active northwesterlies at times.
The Meteorological Department warns of:
Flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, especially in northern and central regions, including the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea
Heavy hail and thunderstorms in some areas
Reduced horizontal visibility due to low clouds and fog, particularly over mountainous areas
Strong winds and powerful gusts in many regions
Dust storms and severely reduced or occasionally zero visibility in desert and Badia areas
Citizens are urged to exercise caution, avoid crossing flooded roads and valleys, secure loose objects, and be alert to slippery road conditions at the onset of rainfall.
On Wednesday, temperatures will rise slightly. The weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy and very cold in most regions, with a continued chance of light, scattered rain in western areas. Rain chances will decrease in the evening as conditions gradually stabilize. Winds will be moderate northwesterlies, becoming active at times.
Another slight temperature increase is expected on Thursday. Weather will be foggy in the morning and cold in most areas, while mild in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba, with low clouds present. Winds will be moderate northwesterlies, shifting to moderate southeasterlies later.
Temperatures (°C) for Tuesday:
East Amman: 7 / 3
West Amman: 5 / 1
Northern Highlands: 4 / 0
Sharah Highlands: 3 / -1
Badia regions: 10 / 2
Plains: 8 / 3
