Amman, January 19 — Mafraq Municipality has decided to halt new building permits within wadis and dams zones to ensure public safety.
Dr. Mohammad Al-Fayez, head of the municipal committee, said in a statement Monday that the municipality faced significant challenges during recent weather events due to buildings in these zones obstructing emergency teams’ work. He noted that the Minister of Local Administration issued a decision to stop issuing permits for such constructions in wadis and dams areas.
Al-Fayez added that work is ongoing to address identified high-risk areas during recent weather events to enhance public safety.
