AMMAN - Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Al-Khasawneh received in his office today, Wednesday, the head of the World Anti-Doping Agency, Wittold Banca, and the director general of the agency, Olivier Niggli.
During the meeting, which was attended by Youth Minister Muhammad Al-Nabulsi and Secretary General of the Jordan Olympic Committee Nasser Al-Majali, the Prime Minister stressed the efforts and steps taken by the government in partnership with the concerned authorities, particularly the Jordanian Anti-Doping Organization (Jado) in order to a Jordanian sports environment free of doping, cooperation and coordination With all countries to a global environment free of doping and its risks.
The Prime Minister stressed the efforts made by His Highness Faisal bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Olympic Committee, to promote the values of Jordanian sports and work with all partners to global Olympic values.
Al-Khasawneh indicated Jordan's keenness to find anti-doping legislation, which would raise Jordan's classification from the second class to the first class within the WADA classification ladder for countries, according to the percentage of fulfillment of international requirements.
He pointed to the importance of the partnership with the World Anti-Doping Agency in building human capacities and expertise and raising competencies, pointing to Jordan's keenness to be a center of excellence in the Arab region in the field of awareness and education on anti-doping and warning of its dangers.
For his part, the head of the World Anti-Doping Agency stressed the partnership and cooperation relations with the Jordanian Olympic Committee in the field of anti-doping and appreciation for Jordan’s access to the second level within the WADA classification ladder for countries according to the percentage of fulfillment of international requirements, which is the highest degree that any country can reach. It does not have anti-doping legislation or law.
He also stressed the importance of maximizing the role that Jordan plays in the region, as the Jordanian Anti-Doping Organization supports the five countries in the region within the West Asian Anti-Doping Organization, noting that Jordan was one of the first signatories to the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sports.
