State Minister for Prime Ministry Affairs Abdel Latif Al-Najdawi said Wednesday that the team tasked with reviewing clarifications flagged by the Audit Bureau has taken new steps to accelerate responses to all regulatory observations.
Al-Najdawi noted that, under Prime Minister Jafar Hassan’s directives, the team will conduct periodic reviews, increase the response rate to all audit observations, link them to public sector modernization efforts, and maintain dedicated follow-up teams for ministries and institutions, aiming to reduce violations across all entities under Audit Bureau oversight.
The team held a meeting at the Prime Ministry to review 33 clarifications documented during November and December across 22 institutions, confirming all necessary measures are being taken to correct irregularities and recover misused funds.
Al-Najdawi added that none of the clarifications required referral to the Public Prosecution or anti-corruption authorities. The issues included unauthorized hiring and use of foreign labor, bonuses and allowances paid to staff for projects without actual attendance, failure to collect due public funds, irregularities in certain tenders, violations in university faculty appointments, and unlawful bonuses in some municipalities.
