Jordan will host on Wednesday, at the Dead Sea, the 49th meeting of the Regional Committee for the Middle East of the World Tourism Organization, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization and Arab tourism ministers.
The committee, which enjoys high-level representation from ministers in member states, government officials, key stakeholders in the tourism sector and international organizations, will discuss during the meeting the latest developments in the tourism sector, in addition to electing temporary and permanent committees in the organization.
The meeting will also review the plans and strategies of the World Tourism Organization and the programs and projects to be established.

His Majesty's Deputy King Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince, on Tuesday received UNWTO Secretary General Zurab Polikashvili, who is visiting Jordan to chair the 49th annual meeting of the UNWTO Middle East Committee.
The meeting dealt with ways to enhance cooperation with the World Tourism Organization to further develop the Jordanian tourism sector by building the capabilities of workers in cooperation with the Vocational Training Corporation, developing local expertise, and developing sustainable tourism.
During the meeting, which was held at Jordan House, the Crown Prince stressed the importance of strengthening the Kingdom's role as a founding member of the organization.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Makram Al-Qaisi, the Director of the Office of His Highness the Crown Prince, Zaid Al-Baqain, and the Regional Director for the Middle East Region at the World Tourism Organization, Basma bint Abdulaziz Al-Maiman.
