The Ministry of Environment and the Greater Salt Municipality have confirmed that there is no sewage leakage in the Al-Magharib Housing area or the surrounding lands, following a comprehensive field inspection of the site.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry said that after reports circulated earlier on social media about an alleged wastewater leak in the area, coordination took place among the relevant authorities to conduct an on-site inspection and video documentation. The inspection showed that there was no leakage from the housing complex’s septic pit, and that tanker trucks are regularly pumping wastewater from the site.

The statement added that, according to a field inspection carried out by the Environment Directorate in Balqa Governorate, no environmental observations were recorded regarding sewage leakage outside the septic pit’s designated area.

The ministry and the municipality noted that the continuous increase in population may place additional pressure on the operation of the tanker trucks, which highlights the need, in the future, to establish an integrated sewage system to reduce potential environmental and health impacts in the area.
