Libya probes killing of Seif Al Islam Gaddafi in Zintan

Libyan prosecutors have launched an investigation into the killing of Seif Al Islam Gaddafi, son of slain ruler Muammar Gaddafi, in Zintan. Forensic teams were sent to the northwest city to examine the scene, while authorities work to identify suspects.
The public prosecutor’s office confirmed that Seif Al Islam died from gunshot wounds and said investigators are seeking witnesses and anyone who could provide information on the incident. His lawyer, Marcel Ceccaldi, told AFP that an unidentified four-man commando stormed Gaddafi’s home on Tuesday.
Libya continues to face political fragmentation following the 2011 NATO-backed uprising that overthrew Muammar Gaddafi, with a UN-backed government in Tripoli and an eastern administration led by Khalifa Haftar. Neither authority has commented on Seif Al Islam’s death.
The only public reaction came from Moussa al-Kouni, vice-president of the Presidential Council representing Fezzan, who condemned the killing on X, saying: “No to political assassinations, no to achieving demands by force, and no to violence as a language or a means of expression.”
