Jordan strongly condemned on Sunday the Israeli government’s unlawful decisions and measures aimed at imposing illegal sovereignty, consolidating settlements, and establishing new legal and administrative realities in the occupied West Bank.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement that these actions constitute a blatant violation of international law, undermine the two-state solution, and infringe on the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent, sovereign state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The ministry reaffirmed that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories.
Spokesperson Ambassador Fuad Al-Majali reiterated Jordan’s absolute rejection of Israel’s unilateral and illegal measures in the West Bank, describing them as a clear violation of UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334, and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, which calls for ending the occupation and invalidates Israel’s annexation of Palestinian lands.
Al-Majali warned that continued expansionist policies by the extremist Israeli government risk fueling cycles of violence and conflict in the region. He renewed Jordan’s call for the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities, pressure Israel to halt escalation in the West Bank, and ensure the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state—a crucial path to achieving just, comprehensive peace, regional security, and stability.
