US President Donald Trump says Iranians ‘eager to reach deal’, stressing Washington either reaches agreement or ‘takes very tough steps’.
In interview with Israel Channel 12 on Tuesday, Trump says he considers sending additional aircraft carrier to region alongside other military reinforcements, stressing Iran ‘will not possess nuclear weapons or missiles’.
Trump adds Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ‘also wants deal, but good deal’.
Netanyahu says on Tuesday his talks with US president focus on negotiations with Iran, as part of effort to push Washington towards tougher stance on Tehran ballistic missile programme.
Scheduled meeting on Wednesday marks sixth meeting between two leaders since Trump return to White House early last year. Last meeting takes place in Jerusalem in October.
Meeting follows days after talks between Iran and United States in Oman, after which Trump announces second round to follow.
Meeting also coincides with rising international reactions to Israeli measures aimed at deepening control over occupied West Bank, particularly allowing Israelis to buy land and weakening Palestinian Authority.
