Two U.S. officials stated that President Donald Trump is set to announce the deployment of thousands of troops from several countries as part of what is being described as an International Stabilization Force, under a plan to be presented during a Peace Council meeting, Reuters reported Thursday.
According to the officials, Trump will provide a comprehensive briefing on the proposed International Stabilization Force for the Gaza Strip during the council’s meeting. Delegations from at least 20 countries, including several heads of state, are expected to attend.
The officials added that the U.S. president will also announce a multi-billion-dollar funding plan dedicated to Gaza during the first Peace Council meeting next week, in a move aimed at supporting stability and reconstruction efforts in the territory.
