Grand Ceremony Concludes “Leader’s Championship” of the Jordanian Universities Sports Federation in Aqaba
The Jordanian Universities Sports Federation’s “Leader’s Championship” concluded in a ceremony held under the patronage of Minister of Youth Dr. Raed Al-Adwan. The event was attended by President of the Jordanian Universities Sports Federation and President of Middle East University, Prof. Salam Al-Mahadin; Governor of Aqaba, Ayman Al-Awaisheh; along with deans of student affairs and representatives of participating universities.
The closing ceremony reflected the growing role of university sports as a platform for shaping student character and developing leadership and teamwork skills.
The championship’s final match brought together Al-Balqa Applied University and University of Petra, with Al-Balqa Applied University securing first place and the University of Petra finishing second. Hashemite University and University of Jordan shared third place.
The Minister of Youth, the Federation President, the Governor of Aqaba, and the Federation Secretary presented trophies and medals to the winning teams in a celebratory scene recognizing the athletic efforts demonstrated by participating universities.
In his remarks, Minister Al-Adwan emphasized that university sports represent a key avenue for investing in youth potential, contributing to physical and mental well-being while identifying talents and nurturing young leaders capable of supporting national development.
For his part, Secretary-General of the Jordanian Universities Federation and Dean of Student Affairs at Middle East University, Dr. Hazem Al-Nsoor, noted that the championship aligns with a strategic vision to institutionalize university sports as an essential component of the comprehensive educational experience. He added that inter-university competition fosters a positive environment of interaction and integration.
The ceremony also included recognition of supporting entities and the organizing committee for their administrative and logistical efforts, which contributed significantly to delivering the event in a professional manner that reflects the advancement of university sports in Jordan.
