Jordan on Saturday condemned remarks made by the United States Ambassador to Israel, in which he reportedly stated that it would be acceptable for Israel to control the entire Middle East, in addition to the West Bank.
The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Sufyan Al-Qudah, described the statements as reckless and provocative, representing a violation of diplomatic norms, an infringement on the sovereignty of countries in the region, and a clear breach of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. He added that the remarks contradict the publicly declared position of U.S. President Donald Trump rejecting the annexation of the occupied West Bank.
He reaffirmed that the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip are occupied Palestinian territories under international law. He stressed that ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state on all occupied Palestinian territory, based on the two-state solution and international law, remains the only path to achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
He also emphasized the importance of consolidating all efforts to stabilize Gaza and implement the U.S. President’s plan and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, rather than issuing irresponsible and escalatory statements lacking legal value or impact.
