The U.S. and Israeli attack on Iran led to widespread suspension and cancellation of flights across the region and beyond on Saturday.
According to Euronews, Lufthansa canceled its flights until March 7 to several Middle Eastern destinations, including Tel Aviv, Beirut, Amman, Erbil, and Tehran, citing “security concerns.” Flights to and from Dubai and Abu Dhabi have also been suspended until March 1.
ITA Airways suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv and is avoiding Israeli, Lebanese, Jordanian, Iraqi, and Iranian airspace until March 7.
KLM had earlier announced the suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv starting Sunday.
Air France canceled flights to and from Tel Aviv and Beirut scheduled for Saturday, while LOT Polish Airlines suspended flights to Tel Aviv in response to the situation.
British Airways announced it had suspended flights to the region, including Tel Aviv. Virgin Atlantic canceled flights from London Heathrow to Dubai and stated it would avoid flying over Iraq, having already ceased overflying Iran. The airline added that all flights would carry sufficient fuel in case rerouting becomes necessary.
Turkish Airlines announced on X that flights to Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Jordan will be suspended until March 2. Flights scheduled Saturday to Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman were canceled, with additional cancellations possible.
Several Russian airlines suspended flights to Iran and Israel following advice from Russia’s Transport Ministry.
In Asia, Air India suspended flights to Iran and Israel and is rerouting aircraft to avoid affected airspace.
Other regional carriers in the Middle East, including EgyptAir, suspended flights from Cairo to Kuwait, Dubai, Doha, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Qassim, Dammam, Erbil, Baghdad, Amman, Beirut, and Muscat due to the escalation.
