Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Hunaiti, affirmed that protecting the Kingdom’s skies is a sovereign duty that permits no compromise or negligence, stressing that the Jordan Armed Forces will not allow any attempt to breach its airspace and will respond firmly to any threat affecting national security and the safety of citizens.
Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Hunaiti made the remarks during a visit on Tuesday to the HAWK Missile Unit (Modified/20), where he was received by the Commander of the Royal Jordanian Air Force and the unit’s commander.
He was briefed on the unit’s technical and operational readiness, as well as the measures taken in recent days to address missiles and drones that targeted sites and facilities within the Kingdom across several governorates.
Al-Hunaiti emphasized that air defense units represent the first line of defense for Jordan’s airspace. He stated that the General Command, under the directives of His Majesty Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, is continuing efforts to develop and modernize air defense systems in line with current requirements and technological advancements.
He added that investment in specialized training and qualification remains ongoing to enhance readiness and reinforce professionalism in carrying out assigned duties.
