The United Arab Emirates has officially declared itself in a state of defensive mobilization following what it described as a "brutal and unjustified" Iranian military aggression. According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, March 8, 2026, the UAE has been targeted by more than 1,660 ballistic missiles and drones aimed at critical infrastructure and civilian sites.
​The Ministry of Defense reported that on Sunday alone, air defense systems detected 17 ballistic missiles, 16 of which were successfully intercepted, while one landed in the sea. Additionally, 117 drones were tracked, with 113 intercepted and four landing within UAE territory.
​Since the beginning of the hostilities, the UAE has monitored a total of 238 ballistic missiles, with 221 destroyed and 15 landing at sea. Out of 1,422 Iranian drones launched toward the country, 1,342 have been intercepted, while 80 impacted land. Eight cruise missiles were also detected and neutralized.
​The attacks have resulted in four confirmed fatalities among Pakistani, Nepalese, and Bangladeshi nationals. Furthermore, 112 individuals have been injured, representing a wide range of nationalities including Emiratis, Egyptians, Sudanese, Indians, and several others.
​The UAE government emphasized that while it does not seek to be dragged into wider regional conflict or escalation, it maintains its full right under international law and the UN Charter to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, national security, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
