Amman - Minister of Agriculture Saeb Khreisat confirmed that the Ministry took a series of measures to ensure the stability of local markets and provide various agricultural products in sufficient quantities through organizing import and export movement, opening new outlets and markets, and closely monitoring the stock of commodities and production inputs. Khreisat added that the Ministry is enhancing health supervision on incoming shipments to ensure the needs of the local market for agricultural products are met under various circumstances.
For his part, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah explained that the Ministry continuously monitors the reality of supply and delivery chains as well as trade and transport movement in light of regional conditions. He noted that this occurs in coordination with various government agencies and the commercial and industrial sectors to ensure the smooth flow of goods into the Kingdom. Qudah pointed out that proactive measures were taken to enhance the flexibility of supply chains, diversify import sources, and monitor stock levels daily to ensure the stability of local markets and the provision of goods to citizens.
He noted that the strategic stock of wheat and barley in the Kingdom is safe and reassuring, sufficient to cover the needs of the local market alongside basic food commodities. Qudah emphasized the existence of many alternatives to deal with any developments that might affect trade movement in the region.
The Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Industry, Fathi Al-Jaghbir, confirmed that Jordanian industry is committed to not raising prices. He stated that Jordanian factories are operating at full capacity and normally, as local food industries cover approximately 65% of local market needs. Al-Jaghbir pointed out that the Chamber is monitoring the stock levels of food commodities and production inputs at factories in coordination with government agencies.
