On the 10th day of the US-Israeli war on Iran, the pledge of allegiance to the country’s new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, continues as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launches intensive missile strikes against Israel.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced its allegiance to the new leader, describing his selection as a 'new dawn and the beginning of a new phase for the Islamic Republic.' Ali Larijani, Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council, affirmed that Mojtaba possesses the 'capacity to lead the country under the current sensitive circumstances.'
Tehran announced Sunday that Mojtaba assumed the position of Supreme Leader, succeeding his father, Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a massive US-Israeli attack on Tehran at dawn on Saturday, February 28.
In comments to Fox News, US President Donald Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the choice of the new leader.
In another development, Iran launched intensive missile volleys at Israeli cities. The Israeli newspaper Ma'ariv reported two deaths resulting from an Iranian missile strike in central Israel.
Israeli emergency services reported two serious injuries in the town of Yehud near Ben Gurion Airport, east of Tel Aviv, following an Iranian missile strike.
Meanwhile, US Central Command announced the death of a soldier from critical wounds sustained during an Iranian attack on US forces in Kuwait in early March. This brings the total number of US military fatalities in the war to 8.
