The Jordan Football Association’s (JFA) "Al-Qarar" (The Decision) program has settled the refereeing controversy surrounding the high-stakes match between Al-Wehdat and Al-Hussein Irbid. The program reviewed the disputed goal scored by Al-Hussein that was disallowed during the game.
The program, utilizing exclusive footage from the JFA refereeing department’s cameras, clarified that the ball struck by the Al-Hussein player correctly entered the goal. It further confirmed that the net was not torn and that no player had damaged it, contrary to rumors circulated after the match.
The refereeing analysis revealed that:
Goal Validity: The goal was technically correct and should have stood.
Reason for Annulment: The decision to disallow the goal resulted from a consultation between the officiating crew rather than any physical defect in the net.
Penalty Claim: The program upheld the referee's decision not to award a penalty to Al-Hussein, explaining that the Al-Wehdat defender’s hand was in a fixed position behind his back and did not constitute a foul.
Al-Wehdat ultimately won the Round 20 match 3–1, a result that significantly impacts the Pro League title race as Al-Hussein Irbid maintains its lead at the top of the standings
