Our region is living through, and we are living with it, a destructive war by all standards. At this stage of the war, it is difficult to predict how far it might go, although up to this moment it warns of increased risks to the region and the entire world—not only from the perspective of its impact on oil, gas, and food supplies, but also from the perspective of the conflict between global powers (America, China, Russia, and the European Union). This is an existing conflict, and this war may be a prelude to future stages!
What matters to us is knowing the reality of what is happening and how to deal with the crisis that our location and position place in the line of fire, taking into account that the Arab national security that includes us is threatened more than ever. It is subjected to a direct military attack from Iran, resulting every day in heavy losses to the economic infrastructure, especially energy, exports, imports, and others, which calls for the necessity of transforming the theory of national security into an effective and deterrent process.
This war was not a sudden event for us; it was within the expectations of His Majesty King Abdullah II, who did everything in his power to avoid it through his intensive contacts with world leaders. His starting point was his awareness of all the factors and plans aimed at igniting it, with an opportunity to contain it if all effective powers met on a unified position based on international law to resolve conflicts and maintain regional and international security and peace.
Now that the fires of this war have been ignited, it is natural, objective, and logical that the security and stability of our country and its supreme interests are our top priority in their specific and clear dimensions. Foremost among these is the strategic management of the crisis, undertaken by His Majesty the King, the Head of State and Supreme Commander of our Armed Forces, leading and directing the government and public and private state institutions to continue their march despite the obstacles resulting from the war. This complements his efforts at the national and international levels to find a space for reason and wisdom, reduce escalation, and stop the war at this limit before it gets out of control and drives the world toward the abyss!
Among the priorities that impose themselves is the priority of rationalizing energy consumption, regarding which the government has taken a first step appropriate for this stage of the crisis, as well as securing a sufficient stock of main needs of food, medicine, and others. It is of paramount importance that the concept of crisis management, or management within a crisis, expands to all sectors according to the possibilities of damage they may be exposed to if the war continues or develops for the worse.
The priority of national consensus on deepening the unity of the position toward Jordan's security, stability, and safety, and consolidating its strength and steadfastness in facing the current crisis, remains a national duty of importance to be an effective element of strength and the capacity to face risks and challenges. This completes the circle of harmony, interaction, and unity with our leader, our armed forces, and those watching over our country’s security, stability, and the protection of its resources, achievements, and the future of its generations.
Today, we are as close as possible to a unity of position in terms of sufficient awareness to understand the reality, nature, repercussions, and outcomes of this war. The time has come to activate this awareness to become an important part of the state's vitality and its will to protect itself and continue its developmental project!
