The United States military announced on Wednesday that it has successfully prevented ten vessels from departing Iranian ports during the first 48 hours of the naval blockade imposed on Iran.
​U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated via social media that "ten ships were turned back, and no vessel has been able to pass since the U.S. blockade began on Monday." While CENTCOM initially reported nine ships, it later updated the figure to include a tenth vessel that was "re-routed" back to Iran by a U.S. guided-missile destroyer.
​Despite these claims, maritime tracking data from Tuesday indicated that at least three ships departing from Iranian ports had successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz, though some vessels on that route reportedly turned back later.
​The Iranian Armed Forces effectively closed the strait following the commencement of U.S. and Israeli air campaigns on February 28. The United States subsequently declared the formal blockade of Iranian ports on Sunday, following the collapse of peace negotiations in Islamabad.
