Prof. Dr. Sari Hamdan, President of Amman Ahliyya University, honored creatively distinguished students in the Faculty of Architecture and Design in recognition of their outstanding achievements in several art and design awards and competitions. This ceremony reflects the university's commitment to nurturing student excellence and celebrating creative accomplishments as an integral part of its academic identity. The honoring ceremony was held in the presence of Prof. Dr. Rama Al-Rababah, Dean of the Faculty, and Dr. Hanan Al-Sheikh, Vice Dean for Accreditation and Quality Affairs.
The University President expressed his pride in the honorable presence and qualitative achievements attained by the faculty's students, emphasizing that the university’s mission is based on three essential elements: the structure of study plans, the faculty members, and the students. He noted that this integration creates a university environment capable of producing excellence and transforming youthful energies into real success stories. He also stressed the university's constant keenness to support and encourage its students, providing an environment that helps them innovate, excel, and compete with confidence and efficiency.
For her part, Dr. Al-Rababah explained that this recognition comes in appreciation of student participations that reflected an advanced level of seriousness and competitive ability. She pointed out that the creative and design achievements included the Al-Hourani Prize for Arts and Design, organized annually by Amman Ahliyya University, the "Tale of Resilience" award for the city of As-Salt within a project supported by the British University of Bath, and the international Arab Starpack packaging competition. She added that the fifth edition of the Al-Hourani Prize was titled "Completing the Journey: Jordan 2049," providing students with a vast space for expression and creativity while linking design ideas to a future national horizon.
The first-place winning students received certificates of appreciation along with financial and in-kind prizes from the University President. The honoring included winners of the Al-Hourani Prize for Arts and Design – Fifth Session 2024/2025: Christelle George Habashi, Muyassar Bassam Mazhar, and Zeina Khalil Akour for the short video category through a joint work, and Layan Ashraf Al-Qawasmi and Rahaf Mahmoud Hamdan for the drawing category. The honoring also included the winners of the "Tale of Resilience" award for the city of As-Salt: Dareen Iyad Al-Haris, Samira Nader Sweidan, Yasmine Muhannad Noureddine, Jood Naim Shamout, and Ahmed Abu Khas, for a collective work representing a team formed from all departments of the faculty, clearly indicating the spirit of integration between disciplines. In the international Arab Starpack competition, student Muyassar Bassam Mazhar was honored for winning first place, an achievement added to the series of successes by the faculty’s students in applied graphic design, confirming their ability to compete and excel in specialized forums locally and internationally.
