The first convoy of Jordanian pilgrims is set to depart for Saudi Arabia next Wednesday to perform the Hajj (pilgrimage) rituals.

An official farewell ceremony will be held for the departing convoy in Giza district, south of Amman.

In a statement, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Khalayleh, said all necessary preparations and arrangements were completed for this year's Hajj season, within a "comprehensive" plan to ensure a safe journey to perform the rites.

Khalayleh noted technical inspectors will be present to monitor the buses' readiness and allocate reserve vehicles to accompany the pilgrim convoys and ensure their safety and smooth transportation.
