Middle East University, represented by a team from the Faculty of Information Technology, achieved a qualitative milestone by winning second place at the regional level (Central and North) in the "Youth, Technology, Participation" Hackathon. Organized by the Independent Election Commission, the event aimed to stimulate the use of technology and artificial intelligence to enhance political and civic engagement among youth.
This distinction was earned through the innovative project: "OQD: The National Shemagh for Civic Intelligence," presented by the student team: Ahmed Mohammad Al-Kloub, Mahmoud Ahmed Al-Khawaldeh, Anas Hassan Dahak, Rahaf Al-Jabali, and Dana Mohammad Hefnawi.
Supervised by Dr. Maria Yousef, the project relied on advanced digital engineering that leverages the capabilities of Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models (LLMs). The team developed a smart platform designed to:
Evaluate Community Initiatives: Analyze the feasibility and potential impact of local projects.
Simplify Legal Frameworks: Transform complex legal structures into interactive content that resonates with the interests and awareness of young people.
This achievement underscores the university's commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology into social development and fostering a culture of innovation within the student body.
