Jordan Duty Free Shops Company Confirms Readiness of Its Aqaba Branches and Enhances Coordination with Border Authorities

Within the framework of the Jordan Duty Free Shops Company's Board of Directors' keenness to follow up on work progress in the field and directly review market readiness and the level of services provided, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Kholoud Al-Saqqaf, accompanied by members of the Board and the company's CEO, Dr. Mourad Abu Eid, paid an official visit to the city of Aqaba.
The delegation commenced its visit with a meeting with officials from the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), where they discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation and develop the business environment in a manner that serves mutual interests and supports economic and commercial development in the Aqaba region.
The Board of Directors also held an official meeting in the city of Aqaba, during which they discussed a number of strategic files related to the company's business, its operational and expansion plans, and followed up on current and future development projects to enhance performance efficiency and raise the standard of service.
The visit included a field tour that covered several of the company's branches in the city of Aqaba, including the Southern Crossing market, Ad-Durra market, Fountain Mall market, Tala Bay market, Cruise Ships Crew market, and the Passenger Terminal market. The delegation reviewed the readiness of these markets, their level of organization, the availability of goods, and the quality of services provided to travelers and visitors, ensuring a distinguished shopping experience that reflects the company's leading position in the duty-free sector.
In a related context, the delegation conducted a field visit to the Abu Dhabi Port project as part of preparations for opening a new Jordan Duty Free branch inside the site. They reviewed the infrastructure readiness and preparation phases, and discussed operational requirements and logistical coordination ahead of launching operations at the new branch, opening new horizons for growth and expansion.
The delegation also held a series of meetings with several border center administrations and relevant authorities in the city of Aqaba, discussing ways to strengthen cooperation and joint coordination to contribute to developing the work environment, increasing operational efficiency, and improving the level of services provided to travelers passing through border gates.
Al-Saqqaf emphasized that the Jordan Duty Free Shops Company continues to implement its development and expansion plans according to a strategic vision aimed at enhancing the company's competitiveness and elevating its operational and commercial performance, aligning with the national role the company plays in supporting the national economy and boosting Jordan's commercial and tourism status.
For his part, Dr. Abu Eid stressed that field visits and executive meetings form a fundamental pillar of the management's approach to tracking performance on the ground, listening to feedback and suggestions, and continuously working to develop the markets to achieve the highest levels of quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
At the conclusion of the visit, the company's management extended its thanks and appreciation to the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority commissioner, border center administrations, and security agencies for their continuous cooperation and support, which contributes to facilitating business and raising the efficiency of operational processes within the duty-free shops.
This visit comes as part of a periodic program implemented by the Board of Directors and the executive management to follow up on the company's operations across its various locations and ensure its ongoing readiness to maintain the status of the Jordan Duty Free Shops Company as one of the prominent leading national companies serving travelers and supporting the Jordanian economy.
