Settlers attempted to set fire to a mosque in the town of Bazariya, northwest of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, at dawn on Tuesday.
Local sources reported that settlers set fire to a room adjacent to the Nur al-Din Zanki Mosque after failing to force open the mosque's doors, and spray-painted racist slogans at the site.
The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs condemned the criminal attack carried out by the group of settlers against the village of Bazariya.
In its statement, the Ministry emphasized that targeting mosques and places of worship constitutes a dangerous and systematic escalation aimed at provoking the feelings of Muslims, violating the sanctity of holy sites protected under all international laws and charters.
Additionally, Sheikh Nasser Al-Salman, Director-General of Nablus Endowments, stated that the attempt to burn parts of the Nur al-Din Zanki Mosque and desecrate it with racist slogans reflects the extent of continuous incitement against holy sites.
He added, "Mosques will remain vibrant with their worshippers and their message of faith, and these heinous attacks will not break the will of our people or their attachment to their land and holy places."
The Ministry called on international and human rights organizations to assume their responsibilities by providing protection for places of worship and reining in these repeated attacks on Palestinian villages and towns.
