Regarding electricity bills, Al-Qaq affirmed that current bills contain no additional or unannounced items and that all included line items are clear and declared to subscribers. She denied claims that electrical line losses are added to citizens' bills, passed on to subscribers, or distributed across bills to increase their value.
She stated that the circulating information on this matter is false, noting that the electricity bill items are clear to everyone and do not include any hidden fees or extra charges.
Explaining the rise in some bills over the past month, Al-Qaq clarified that in many cases, it relates to changes in consumption patterns during the summer season, noting that higher consumption naturally leads to higher electricity bills according to the approved calculation mechanism.
She added that rising temperatures during the summer prompt many households to increase their use of air conditioners, fans, and other electrical appliances, directly impacting consumption volume and, consequently, the bill amount.
Al-Qaq reiterated that calculating electricity bills is straightforward and clear, urging citizens to read the breakdown on their bills, monitor their consumption levels, and disregard inaccurate information circulating on social media platforms.
She renewed the assertion that the doors of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission remain open to citizens seeking inquiries and official information regarding electricity tariffs, bills, and calculation mechanisms, stressing the importance of obtaining information exclusively from official sources.
Al-Qaq warned that circulating incorrect information about electricity bills, time-of-use tariffs, or peak hours creates public confusion and misinformation, reiterating that the Commission is committed to announcing any updates or decisions regarding electricity tariffs with complete clarity and transparency.
