Qatar announced today, Monday, the imminent launch of the first electric car with Qatari intellectual property in its local markets, within the next two months.

The new car will carry the brand (VIM) and is manufactured in China, with its manufacture gradually moving to Doha at a later period.


The “Sustainable Transport and Legacy for Generations” conference and exhibition, currently organized by the Qatari Ministry of Transport in Doha, witnessed the announcement of the signing of contracts to appoint the first exclusive agent for the new car in Jordan, in the presence of the Qatari Minister of Transport, Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti.

The new car will be displayed to visitors of the exhibition throughout its three-day stay, which concludes tomorrow, Tuesday.

The new car will be launched in the local Qatari market during the first phase, and will be exported at a later period to a number of markets in the region, including Jordan and Lebanon.

The new car, launched by Eco Transit Solutions, comes in 3 categories (sedan, hatchback, and sword), and can travel a distance of 650 kilometers each time it is charged.
