The Chinese ambassador to Amman, Chen Quandong, stressed the necessity of respecting and supporting the Hashemite custodianship of the holy sites and preserving the existing historical status of Jerusalem.
In an interview with the Jordan News Agency on the occasion of the National Day of the People's Republic of China, he expressed China's strong support for restoring the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people and achieving the two-state solution.
He said that this year, Jordanian-Chinese relations witnessed steady development and a rapid and comprehensive recovery, and communications continued between the leaderships of the two countries, and close coordination was maintained on regional and international issues.
He stressed China's appreciation for Jordan's commitment to the one-China principle, as well as China's support for Jordan's independent steps in modernization reforms that are in line with its national conditions and cultural traditions.
He stated that the volume of bilateral trade in the first seven months reached about 3.5 billion dollars, and China’s imports from Jordan increased by about 25 percent, and the Jinsheng International Ceramic Factory, which is located in Karak Governorate, with investments amounting to about 100 million dollars, entered the first production phase.
He pointed out that the Chinese company CSAIL has acquired four stations to supply electricity with renewable energy in Jordan, which increases interest in the Jordanian clean energy market.
He pointed out that Chinese-made electric cars have been widely popular among Jordanian consumers, and occupy about 80 percent of the electric car market in Jordan.
He stated that this year, the Chinese embassy in Amman issued visas to about 7,000 people, and organized training courses for about 300 Jordanians in the fields of health, agriculture, 5G, and others.
He said that the two countries share close political mutual trust, huge economic cooperation potential, convergence of cultural values, and strong people-to-people ties.
In response to a question, he explained that China has been steadfastly supporting the just Palestinian cause for more than 70 years without change, and development cooperation between China and the countries of the region has reaped fruitful results. China supports the sovereignty of the peoples of the Middle East over its lands, strengthens their unity and self-strength, and opposes external interference in the affairs of the region.
He presented the recent achievements of Chinese diplomacy in the region, most notably the holding of the first session of the Sino-Arab Summit, which constituted a historical milestone for building a community with a shared future between the two sides.
China urged the international community to intensify efforts to find a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, and to hold an international peace conference on a larger scale. It played a constructive role in the political solution to the Syrian, Yemeni and other crises, and supported the accession of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates and Iran to the BRICS group to increase the influence of the countries of the South in the world and protect... He stressed that Jordan is a natural partner of China in building the Belt and Road, and a close friend of China in achieving modernization, and Jordan has continued to support the Belt and Road and actively participate in it, noting that the third session of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation will be held in Beijing next month, which provides an important platform for consultation between China. Representatives of government, business, academia and the public community from different countries to promote the construction of the Belt and Road.
He expressed his hope that the Chinese and Jordanian sides will seize this occasion to expand and deepen cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road, which will bring benefits to the paths of modernization and the two friendly peoples.
Regarding the Chinese economy, he said that it continues to recover and improve, and shows strong resilience in growth, and in the first half of this year, China’s gross domestic product increased by 5.5 percent on an annual basis, topping the major global economies.
He explained that the pillar of Chinese economic growth has shifted from exceptional speed to high quality, as the contribution of consumption to economic growth has increased significantly, and the contribution rate of domestic demand has increased by 59.4 percent on an annual basis in the first half of this year, and industrial modernization has continued, as investment in High-tech industries in the first seven months increased by 11.5 percent year on year.
He stated that the volume of Chinese trade in goods reached a record high in the first half of this year, exceeding $2.75 trillion for the first time in history.
He continued, and in the first seven months, trade between China and countries involved in the "Belt and Road" increased by 7.4 percent year on year.
Trade fairs also witnessed crowds and liveliness, as sales at the Canton Fair amounted to more than $20 billion, and the recently concluded services trade fair attracted about 9,000 participating companies.
