The Department of Interior Design at the College of Architecture and Design at Al-Ahliyya Amman University carried out a number of important activities during the past few days. The department participated in the activities of the International Conference ASCAAD 2023, which was organized by the College of Architecture and Design at the University of Petra. It also organized a field visit to the specialized international company Ayoub Estetia. In the arts of interior design, in addition to hosting engineer Essam Al-Azzam, director of the Omni Plan company for the arts of interior design.
On the one hand, Dr. Samar Abu Saleh, a faculty member in the department, participated with researcher Dania Hizam, a graduate of the department (Master’s program); In the activities of the International Conference ASCAAD 2023, which was organized by the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the University of Petra a few days ago, the participant was with a paper drawn from the master’s thesis by researcher Dania Hizam, entitled: Applying visual heritage elements to enhance identity in contemporary interior design. “Case study: The Presidency Building at Yarmouk University.” The research paper stressed the need to pay attention to applying heritage elements in interior design to preserve cultural identity, which in turn contributes significantly to enhancing the university’s visual identity.
On the other hand, the department organized a field visit to the international company Ayoub Estitieh, which specializes in interior design arts, to learn about the materials used and their specifications in the local and global market and the technology of manufacturing materials. This visit came within the requirements of the material technology and their specifications subject under the supervision of Dr. Samar Abu Saleh and engineer Hadeel Abu Al-Sunds, and the visit contributed To enrich students’ scientific knowledge and develop their intellectual skills.
On another level, the department hosted Engineer Issam Al-Azzam, director of Omni Plan, an interior design company, to present a workshop on computer programs specialized in interior design. The workshop was attended by students from the College of Architecture and Design from the Departments of Interior Design and Architecture. It is noteworthy that the workshop was organized by Dr. Samar Abu Saleh, a faculty member in the Interior Design Department.
This came as part of the college’s directives to communicate effectively with community institutions related to the academic specializations and programs offered therein, and based on the policy of openness to the local community pursued by the university in line with its vision, policy and core values, in addition to providing students with the necessary skills and opening horizons for them in the labor market.
