Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that his country considers it necessary to negotiate and maintain dialogue on the situation in Ukraine, and to prevent a nuclear crisis on the Eurasian continent.
"The two heads of state had a comprehensive exchange of views on international and regional issues, including the Ukraine issue and the nuclear issue of the Korean Peninsula," Wang Yi told reporters after a meeting between the presidents of China and the United States on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali.
Regarding the situation in Ukraine, the Chinese minister said, "Xi Jinping stressed that it is necessary to have dialogue and negotiations, and a peaceful solution to the crisis is of paramount importance."
"Nuclear weapons cannot be used, and nuclear war cannot be waged. It is necessary to prevent a nuclear crisis in Eurasia, jointly ensure the stability of global production and supply chains, and prevent a larger humanitarian crisis," Wang Yi stressed.
"China has always been on the side of peace, and will continue to promote reconciliation and facilitate negotiations," the minister noted.
