An Iranian official announced to Reuters on Monday the death of the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian in a helicopter crash. The helicopter was carrying them across a mountainous area amid dense fog.

The executive assistant of the Iranian presidency, Mohsen Mansouri, mourned President Ebrahim Raisi and described him as the “master of martyrs.”

The Iranian Mehr News Agency also reported that Raisi, Abdollahian, and their accompanying delegation all perished in the helicopter crash.

Iranian state television announced early Monday that there was “no sign” of life in the wreckage of the helicopter that was carrying Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and other officials.

The television mentioned that “when the helicopter was found, there were no signs that the passengers of the helicopter were alive.”
