On Tuesday morning, seven Palestinians, including a doctor, were martyred, and nine others were injured, including two in critical condition, due to the ongoing Israeli aggression against the city of Jenin and its refugee camp.
The Ministry of Health reported the martyrdom of seven Palestinians and the injury of nine others by Israeli forces’ bullets, including two in critical condition, during clashes that erupted after the Israeli occupation forces stormed Jenin camp.
This came after the Israeli occupation army announced the start of a military operation in Jenin early Tuesday.
According to Dr. Wisam Bakr, the director of Jenin Governmental Hospital, among the martyrs were Dr. As’ad Jabarin, head of the surgery department at Jenin Hospital, who was targeted in the vicinity of the hospital, and teacher Alaa Jaradat, who was at work in one of the schools and a student on his way back home.
Jenin Governor Kamal Abu Al-Rub stated to “Al-Mamlaka” that there were more than 15 injuries, mostly in the upper limbs of the body, with injuries reaching Jenin Governmental Hospital, Ibn Sina Hospital, and Al-Razi Hospital.
He said, “The targeted area was Jenin camp because the Israeli army’s objective was to demolish a house in Jenin camp, coinciding with the presence of a surveillance drone flying over the camp.”
Salama Al-Tahir, the Director of Education in Jenin, stated that all schools in Jenin city and its camp were evacuated, except for some students at Al-Karama and Al-Zahra schools, due to the field conditions.
Mohammed Al-Sabbagh, head of the Popular Committee for Services in Jenin camp, clarified that UNRWA students are still under siege.
Israeli forces had invaded Jenin city and its camp on Tuesday morning, positioning themselves in the streets of Haifa, Nablus, and the Burqin road, accompanied by special units known as “Musta’aribeen,” leading to clashes concentrated around Jenin camp and Wadi Burqin.
With the martyrdom of these seven Palestinians, the total number of martyrs in the West Bank since last October 7th has risen to 513, including 127 from Jenin governorate, according to the National Gathering of Palestinian Martyrs’ Families."
