His Majesty King Abdullah II emphasized the significance of the industrial textile sector in employment, economic growth, and export enhancement during his meeting with representatives from the sector on Tuesday at Al Husseiniya Palace.

The meeting, held to monitor progress in developing the textile sector in alignment with the economic modernization vision, was attended by Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh. Discussions focused on mechanisms to enhance vocational education to supply the textile sector with qualified labor and to adopt training curricula for industry workers, building their capacities.

The industrial textile sector contributes 756 million Jordanian dinars to the gross domestic product (GDP). Textile products constitute 20% of industrial exports, with an annual export value of 1.4 billion dinars. The sector employs 89,000 workers, of whom 31% are Jordanians.

The meeting was also attended by His Majesty’s Office Director, Jafar Hassan.
