Amman - A master’s thesis was discussed at the Faculty of Arts and Educational Sciences at Middle East University, titled: Analysis of Scientific Research on Misconceptions in Mathematics: A Bibliometric Study, by the researcher Rana Gabriel Al-Eyafat.

The study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the research output published in the field of mathematical misconceptions from 1947 to 2023, to understand the general knowledge structure and the collaborative nature of research publishing. The study followed an analytical approach based on data obtained from the Scopus databases.

The study concluded that the most prolific researchers and educational institutions publishing papers related to mathematical misconceptions were from America, England, and Turkey, respectively. Papers by researchers from America were the most cited. The most common sub-topics associated with mathematical misconceptions were common misconceptions, reconstructing the understanding of mathematical concepts, and learning and teaching related to functions and graphs. The most used keywords were students, education, and teaching.

The discussion committee consisted of Professor Dr. Mohammad Hamza as chairman, Dr. Ahmad Tabieh as supervisor, Dr. Ayat Al-Maghribi as a member, Professor Dr. Muharib Al-Samadi as an external member from the university, and Dr. Ayman Al-Rafou as the session observer."
