Amman, Jordan - The United Nations World Tourism Organization announced the election of the General Director of the Jordan Tourism Board, Dr. Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat, as the Chairman of the Affiliate Members Committee in the organization.
According to a statement issued by the organization, this election reflects Dr. Arabiyat’s clear commitment to enhancing global tourism and implementing the best practices of sustainable and inclusive tourism.
The statement described Dr. Arabiyat as having extensive experience and a record of achievements in the tourism sector, and his election reflects the international tourism community’s confidence in his vision.
For his part, Dr. Arabiyat pledged to work on expanding the base of affiliated members of the committee, enhancing cooperation among them, and establishing coordination to achieve the committee’s interests. Dr. Arabiyat stated, “We will work to provide an exceptional opportunity for close cooperation with our international partners to enhance the status of the tourism sector.”
He affirmed, “We will also work on increasing the number of affiliated members and fostering a spirit of cooperation and innovation within our community.
This will enable us to face challenges and seize available opportunities to ensure a prosperous future for all members.” Dr. Arabiyat’s vision centers on leveraging the collective expertise of the committee’s affiliated members to address the pressing issues facing the global tourism sector today, including the impacts of climate change, the need to establish sustainable tourism practices, and enhancing recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Arabiyat added, “We will strive to achieve our goals of building a more resilient and dynamic tourism industry that benefits both local communities and tourists alike.” The Jordan Tourism Board, in its statement, expressed confidence that Dr. Arabiyat will lead the Affiliate Members Committee to the Executive Council to achieve more significant accomplishments, enhance partnerships, and advance initiatives that contribute to solidifying the position of global tourism.
