AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh on Monday met with Yemen’s Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council Rashad Al Alimi to discuss bolstering bilateral relations and exerting efforts to reach a political solution that restores security and stability to Yemen and its people, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the meeting, which was attended by a number of ministers and officials representing both sides, Khasawneh affirmed Jordan's position, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, in support of endeavours to reach a political solution that guarantees a secure and stable Yemen.
He voiced keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation to serve the common interests.
The two sides agreed to hold meetings of the joint Jordanian-Yemeni Higher Committee in Amman as soon as possible.
Alimi referred to developments in Yemen, expressing appreciation for the stances of His Majesty King Abdullah in support of achieving security and stability in Yemen in various regional and international forums.
He commended the humanitarian facilities provided by Jordan to Yemenis residing in the Kingdom.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council also expressed his confidence that this visit would represent an additional impetus to strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and peoples in various fields.
Representing the Jordanian side, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Ibrahim Jazi, Minister of Interior Mazen Faraya, Minister of Health Feras Al Hawari, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply and Minister of Labour Yousef Shamali and Minister of Government Communications Faisal Shboul attended the meeting.
