The Director of the Operations and Consular Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and the official spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Dr. Sufyan Qudah, confirmed that all the deceased and missing Jordanian pilgrims are not part of the official Jordanian Hajj mission.
Ambassador Qudah clarified that the number of Jordanian pilgrims who passed away due to heat strokes from the severe heat wave reached 14 pilgrims, while the number of missing pilgrims is 17.
Additionally, Ambassador Qudah confirmed that the ministry, through the Kingdom's Consulate General in Jeddah, is following up with the relevant Saudi authorities on the procedures for burying the pilgrims and transporting the bodies of those whose families wish to have them returned to the Kingdom as soon as possible. The ministry is also pursuing the search for the 17 missing pilgrims.
Ambassador Qudah stressed the importance of accuracy in conveying information and adhering to the official statements issued by the ministry in this regard.
