Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Al-Khasawneh received the Chairman of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, Badr Mohammed Al-Saad, in his office at the Prime Ministry on Wednesday.

During the meeting, attended by the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Zeina Toukan, Al-Khasawneh emphasized the importance of the fruitful and successful partnership between the Kingdom and the Fund, which has spanned several decades. He also highlighted the need to continue coordination and cooperation to achieve the desired goals and ambitions.

The Prime Minister welcomed the enhancement and expansion of partnership and cooperation frameworks with the Fund according to national priorities and needs. He pointed out the Economic Modernization Vision, part of the comprehensive modernization project launched by His Majesty King Abdullah II. This vision includes frameworks for partnership and ambitious projects in various fields such as energy, water, digital economy, transportation, and more.

He also mentioned the significant confidence the Jordanian economy has gained globally, evidenced by the raising of the Kingdom’s sovereign credit rating by international rating agencies and the completion of the requirements of the Extended Fund Facility program with the International Monetary Fund. This attests to the prudent economic and structural reform policies adopted by the Kingdom despite regional and global challenges and their substantial impacts.

For his part, the Chairman of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development praised Jordan's efforts within the framework of the comprehensive modernization project, covering political, economic, and administrative tracks. He confirmed that the Fund values its partnership with Jordan, which is one of the easiest countries to deal with and among the least bureaucratic and most organized in project implementation.

He expressed the Fund's readiness to work with Jordan on new frameworks and projects for cooperation according to national priorities, which will positively impact the economic situation and help address challenges.

He also commended Jordan's efforts in dealing with regional issues and challenges, including hosting over 1.3 million Syrian refugees, emphasizing the need to support the Kingdom to alleviate the pressure on essential services caused by the refugees.
