In all the festivals around the world, as far as I know, there are specialized festivals focusing on a single type of culture or art. However, in Jordan, we pride ourselves on the Jerash Festival, which brings together various forms of arts and creativity in one place and time.
I must admit, I feel for our friend Ayman Samawi, the festival director, who tirelessly works throughout the year like a diligent farmer constantly improving his land, waiting for the harvest, which in this case, is the festival itself.
As a passionate admirer of the Jerash Festival, I know my limits and do not overstep them, despite knowing many secrets. As the saying goes, "God entrusts His secrets to His weakest creatures," and I am one of His weakest.
I remain dedicated to my work, profession, and certainly to my principles and convictions. The tremendous effort involving nearly 1,000 participants from around the world deserves attention, free from biases and self-interest.
The Jerash Festival features:
- Poetry evenings
- Storytelling sessions
- Intellectual seminars
- Honoring pioneers in culture and art
- Musical concerts across seven theaters (reduced this year due to the aggression on Gaza)
- Various evening events in provinces and universities
- The vibrant main square with numerous activities, including handicrafts, drawings, and children's carnivals
This year, cultural activities are also being held at the Royal Cultural Center, the National Library, the Writers Association, and Shaqir House in Jabal Amman, including a celebration and workshop on monodrama theater supervised by the star actress Abeer Issa.
What else? It seems I forgot something, probably due to the festival's vast array of activities!
