A total of 5,460 new companies were officially incorporated between January 2022 and November 2022, an increase of 931 companies from 2021 and 760 from 2019, according to Companies Controller General Wael Armouti.
He also told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the combined capital of all the newly registered companies was JD320 million, which is a 70 percent increase from the JD189 million registered in 2019.
Armouti explained that the number of companies that have been deregistered or liquidated is still less than the annual average.
He noted that the majority of registered companies are limited liability companies (LLCs), with 3,516 companies with capitals exceeding JD143 million, compared to 56 private joint-stock companies (PJSCs) with capitalization exceeding JD126 million.
Import/export, building/owning of commercial/residential properties, transportation, food production/selling, and IT were the primary focuses of the new businesses.
According to Armouti, the average time to register a limited partnership is less than a day, and the time to register any other type of company that requires a bank deposit is less than two days.
