The death toll from the floods caused by heavy rains since last Saturday in Sichuan Province, southwestern China, has risen to 14, while 25 others are still missing.

According to the Chinese "Xinhua" agency, the local disaster relief center said that rescuers continue to search for the missing with the help of drones, police dogs, and life detection equipment.

The heavy rains caused a local river to flood, causing severe damage to more than 40 houses in Xinhua Village, Hanyuan County, Ya'an City, and injuring 15 people with various injuries.

County officials confirmed that electricity has been restored to more than 5,000 homes in the affected area, and a road leading to the village, destroyed by the flood, has been repaired.
